Homemade Cinnamon Sugar Poptart

12 Oct

The classic childhood favorite but made in my kitchen. A nice simple crunchy pie crust with a nice sweet and flavorful brown sugar and cinnamon filling. These are great because after you bake them they can be stored and re toasted for up to a few days later.

Heres what ya need:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbls milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tbls cinnamon

Heres what ya do:

1. Mix flour, salt, sugar in bowl with butter. Add milk and egg and kneed with your hands into a ball. Split ball in half.

2. Lightly flour a surface and roll 1 ball of dough out about 1/8″ thick. Cut into equal rectangles about 5×6″. Whisk one egg and lightly brush each rectangle.

3. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour and scoop into middle of each of the rectangles.

4. Roll out other balk of dough amd cut into equal rectangles. Put each piece on top of other and press ends down first with your fingers then with a fork to make a nice edge. Poke holes in top to ventilate.

5. Brush tops with egg and sprinkle raw sugar. Bake in 350 degree F oven for 25-30 minute or until top brown and pastry cooked through.
